Week 31!

I hope that everyone was able to enjoy a nice, long weekend!  The coming weeks are getting busier but we will continue to seek the truth, beauty and goodness in all that we learn and do!

Lego Club- Let your imagination run wild with tens of thousands of LEGO parts! Build engineer designed projects such as: motorcycles, castles, airplanes, and monorails. Register your child for Play-Well STEM club on Fridays from April 6th - May 18th from 3:05-4:35 p.m. The cost is $155 per student and the club is open to K-2nd grades. Academics

Math: This week we will begin a new unit on fraction concepts. We will practice breaking things into "halves" and "fourths" and creating and identifying patterns. We will continue to review addition and subtraction concepts from previous units.

Poem: Rope Rhyme Idiom: Land of Nod

Writing:   Students will be able to understand the basic conventions of a proper sentence and rewrite a model sentence. We will read and write about sections from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Students will be able to understand the basic conventions of a proper sentence and rewrite a model sentence. 

Grammar:  We will begin learning about articles this week. The articles "a", "an", and "the" are used in sentences to help the nouns. "A" is almost always used before consonants and "An" before vowels.

Literature: This week we will read various folktales from around the world including The Boy at the Dike, It Could Always be Worse, and Medio Pollito.

Science: This week we continue our unit on astronomy as we learn about the moon and it’s phases.  

History: This week the students will learn about the battle at Lexington and Concord, the Declaration of Independence, the birth of our country and the father of our country, George Washington.
