Week 34!

I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing three day weekend!
It's going to be a fun week with our first concert rehearsal and the book fair!

Here is what you can expect this week:

Poem: Rope Rhyme Idiom: Land of Nod

Writing:   Students will be able to understand the basic conventions of a proper sentence and rewrite a model sentence. We will read and write about sections from "The Giant Crab and Other Tales from Old India" and "The Jataka Tales" by W.H.D Rouse as well as "The Sandpiper" by Celia Thaxter.

Grammar:  This week we will learn about transition words. Students will learn that transition words are used to help connect ideas, sentences, and events together so that a story can be told. Transition words help stories have a clear beginning, middle, and end.

Wednesday: aunt, ant, capture, else, bridge, offer, suffer, center, front, running, run

Math: This week will practice comparing and ordering numbers within 100. We will count on and back by ones or tens from a number within 100. Lastly, we will estimate quantities and determine which is "more" and "less"

History: We will continue to journey westward as we learn about Sacagawea’s influence on the Lewis and Clark expedition.  On Friday, we will make a lap book page to show what we have learned about Lewis and Clark.
We are collecting empty toilet paper rolls for an upcoming project.  Thank you in advance for your help and sending the rolls in with your child over the next few weeks!

Literature: This week we will continue to join Elmer Elevator on his travels to Wild Island! We will read and respond to chapter 4 and 5.

Science: This week we will continue our studies of the Solar System with Mars and Jupiter.
